Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the official statement, "A mysterious meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned ceremonies and monstrous changes echo through the obscurity." The narrative presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden cult.
The mission centers on "peculiar tests and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Changes
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Additional Material
Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana together with several items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series formerly showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
